Today there are only 10-15 pairs left in Thrace and another 15-25 pairs in the rest of mainland Greece. It has a wingspan of 2.30 to 2.80 meters and nests in cliff recesses or rock ledges, where it gives birth to a single young in a year. It is a scavenger species that feeds on large dead animals.
