Golden eagle - Aquila chrysaetos

The golden eagle, the proud mountain eagle of Thrace, chooses rocks or overgrown trees to build its beautiful nests that look like a huge basket, where 1-2 young will grow. The characteristic food of the golden eagle in Thrace are tortoises, which it catches with its forked claws, lifts them up in the air and throws them down onto rocks as many times as it takes to break the shell. These rocks look like tortoise graveyards.
